Natural Bitumen / Gilsonite

Mineral bitumens or natural bitumens are a type of bitumen that, unlike petroleum bitumens, are naturally obtained from underground deposits. This type of bitumen is formed after millions of years from the evaporation of volatile crude oil materials under earth’s pressure and heat. Mineral bitumen is visually hard and brittle and is usually found in mines in brown to black color.
